This delicious egg pie is so versatile. It can be eaten at any time of day and is a great dish for using up what’s in the fridge.

As long as you have some beautiful buttery pastry, eggs and cream, you’re good to go.

You can get creative with flavouring your quiche, but for this blog, I thought I’d start with a classic….

Her name is Lorraine and she’s legendary!

Named for the Lorraine...

In the past when people asked me if I make gluten free pastry, my answer was always a polite…Can’t have pie? How about a nice crumble... No quiche for you? Frittata is a delicious alternative…and to be perfectly honest, I stand by those feelings...

BUT, when one of my own children was prescribed a gluten free diet for health reasons, it dawned on me….sometimes the only treat that...

If I want to gather my crew for a family dinner, I need only to text out three simple words...CHICKEN POT PIE. This homey, delicious comfort food has them dropping plans and taking a seat around my table lickety split!

I love the idea of elevating an already beautiful stew in to gorgeous pie by baking it under a sheet of buttery pastry.

My personal favourite is to add tarragon and...

There are about as many variations of this French Canadian meat pie as there are families that make them. Traditionally served on Christmas Eve or as part of a New Years feast, these pies are a savoury delight. I like this easy recipe adapted from Jamie Kennedy's cookbook. Serve with tomato jam, chili sauce or good old tomato ketchup

Yesterday, I participated in my very first market - the Perth Pop-Up in Stratford. I loved meeting all the people who dropped by my booth. I was excited to introduce my line of Perfect pastry products and they were well received. Thanks Pamela and Kaleigh for inviting me...I look forward to the next one!

I made a chocolate pecan pie to showcase my chocolate pastry. As promis...

It’s summer time and the living is easy…

That’s the way it should be anyway. Long weekends and holidays by a lake or poolside.  Lazy afternoons reading and napping followed by early cocktails - with snacks of course.

Perfect Pastry rolled out and baked in to bite size pieces make an impressive base for all kinds of toppings. These can be baked well in advance and kept in an airtigh...

Local strawberries…there’s nothing like them. You can’t get the same flavour from the imported ones. They’re so damn tasty that I’m always loath to mess with them. I mean, they should just be eaten right out of the container right?  Cooking them seems …un necessary, maybe even wrong.  Problem is  (if you want to call it that) that they are so abundant this year that we can’t help...

Morning noon and night! It's always asparagus time in the late spring and early summer when the weather gets warm and the days longer. This glorious time of yeat brings happy childhood memories for me.

We all loved asparagus in our house. My Dad especially loved asparagus on toast for breakfast. And for that reason alone, we all loved it. He would slice big slabs of whole grain o...

I hate to admit it but I’ve been a bit of a pest at my local grocery store lately. The Little Green Grocer in Stratford carries all of the best local and seasonal sourced food…..but it just didn’t come fast enough for me this year. Where’s the rhubarb? When will you have asparagus? I demanded impatiently the last few weeks. No ramps!? Why did I bother moving to the country if I c...
